iMatterKids – Build an “I can” attitude for a Confident me!

(ages 8 to 13years)

Facilitator: Joanna Kleovoulou
Pr. No. 0266779 – Clinical Psychologist l Founder

Healthy self-esteem is your child’s armour against the challenges of the world. Children who feel good about themselves seem to have an easier time handling conflicts, coping with life, making friends and socialising, resisting negative pressures by making healthy choices.  For children who have low self-esteem, challenges can become sources of major anxiety, frustration, suffering, poor academic performance and even early clinical depression. Children who think poorly of themselves have a hard time finding solutions to problems. If they are plagued by self-critical thoughts, such as, ‘I am no good’ or ‘I can’t do anything right’ they become passive, withdrawn or depressed and do not reach their full potential and can even be life-threatening.  Does your child display any of the following?

Then this empowering confidence-building self-esteem workshop is for your child. Joanna Kleovoulou facilitates group work with children from 8-13 years-old to give children an experience to share with others and will learn:

With a little help, every child can have a healthy self-esteem where their full potential and creativity are revealed for a happier, more fulfilling life.

Bullying is a problem that affects us all.  Studies show that people who are abused by their colleagues or peers are at risk for mental health problems, such as low self-esteem, stress, depression, or anxiety, and possible suicide.

Bullies are also at risk for problems as they are violating someone else’s rights. If unattended, it often leads to violent behaviour as the bully grows up. In a US study, it’s estimated that 1 out of 4 children who bully from primary school will have a criminal record by the time they are 30.

This 2-hour workshop is aimed at adults - individuals, parents & teachers, caregivers - to empower you to beat the bullying or for any adult wanting to empower themselves.

StorkTalkMatters: A guide to talk wisely with your child about their sexuality

Facilitator: Joanna Kleovoulou
Pr. No. 0266779 – Clinical Psychologist l Founder

For many parents, raising a child is the most gratifying job—and one of the most challenging. Given the high statistics of sexual crime in South Africa, high sexually transmitted infections and HIV rates, every parent has a responsibility to keep their children safe. That said, every parent has the responsibility and privilege to instil in their children the belief that their bodies, including their sexuality, to be a beautiful, healthy expression and respected part of their existence.

Studies show that children who feel they can talk with their parents about sex and their sexuality are less likely to engage in high-risk behaviour than children who do not feel they can talk with their parents.  Children who report having good conversations with their parents about sex are more likely to delay sexual activity, have fewer partners, and use condoms and other contraceptives when they do have sex.

Do you find yourself giving to everyone but feel depleted to give to yourself?

In today’s world, we live in we are expected to work long hours, burn the midnight oil and wear multiple hats, whilst managing pandemics and economic strain.  By taking some time out to engage in self-care, you will ease the pressures of everyday life and reset yourself to get back to a healthy point where you are able to thrive in every area of your life. Considering the costs associated with mental health services, lost productivity in the workplace etc., spending some time on yourself will ultimately benefit you and everyone. Burning the candle at both ends comes with a high price and significant consequences. Depression, anxiety, burnout, resentment, guilt, fatigue, are some of the outcomes of poor self-care.  (Joanna Kleovoulou, Clinical psychologist contributed to 2 chapters on Burn-out and Depression/Anxiety in the book “Improving Mental Health in the Workplace” by KR Publishing, editor Navlika Ratangee, Clinical psychologist and MD ICAS Southern Africa –

Self-care has been clinically proven to reduce heart disease, stroke and cancer. Mentally it has proven to reduce stress, improve concentration, energy and happiness. Spiritually, it may help keep us in tune with our higher power and find meaning in your life.  When we practice the act of self-care, we are able to show up in the world as thriving, creative, loving and open to all around us. Your inspiration will be ignited, you will gain enthusiasm for your life again and you will have the energy to make a difference from a place of fullness.

DreamsMatter: Manifest a Masterful You!

How awesome will it be to manifest what you really want? Think about all the possibilities.

Reflecting on the year, it has been without a doubt a rollercoaster challenging year filled with many heartaches, uncertainties, chaos, suffering and pain. It can be especially challenging to shift the focus from this reality to a life we desire.  We all want and deserve to live the life we imagine for ourselves. Many of us are not aware of how to turn what we desire into physical reality. You already have the tools within you already; it’s simply a matter of using those tools intentionally.   Manifestation is bringing something tangible into your life through attraction and belief.  What you think about comes about. There is more to manifestation than just positive thinking and willpower.

GriefMatters: Gentle process for Kids who have lost loved ones

Facilitator: Joanna Kleovoulou
Pr. No. 0266779 – Clinical Psychologist l Founder

It is a myth to believe that young children do not get affected by grief and that they do not need to grieve.  When a child grieves the loss of a loved one, you might not recognise that they are grieving. Children process and display emotions differently from adults. However, this doesn’t mean the grief is not experienced by our children and that your child isn’t affected by their emotions, thoughts and experiences of loss. Children often seem fine one moment, only to become very upset the next moment, as their brains cannot cope with the sadness for long time periods.  Is your child displaying:
